Around 6 people got grave injuries when a Patiala-based hotelman, Gurdeep Singh Walia, and his relatives collided with ex Patiala mayor Jaspal Singh Pardhan and his family members at the latter’s house on April 07 morning.
On February 26, Jaspal Singh had stepped down as mayor owing to his so-called role in the slaughter of his daughter-in-law Parampreet Kaur, who had died under strange conditions on February 23. But, during probes, the Special Investigation Team had provided him a clean chit.

As per police officials, the episode occurred around 11.30 am, when Gurdeep Singh — proprietor of Hotel Sunrise — followed by his parents, wife, kids and backers reached Jaspal’s house.
Gurdeep Singh, who stated to have paid Jaspal Rs 25 lakh for not bulldozing Sunrise during his term as the mayor, had gone to baghis funds. This, after on orders of Divisional Commissioner G S Sidhu, partial demolition of Hotel Sunrise and a few other neighboring shops had been accomplished. Since Jaspal Singh could not save the bulldozing and the new mayor has now accepted the charge, Gurdeep Singh was asking for a refund.
When Gurdeep and his supporters made entry into Pardhan’s house, the latter’s relatives, comprising his nephew Ekjot Singh, son Preetinder Singh and several supporters, protested. PRTC will lodge a writ appeal in the Punjab and Haryana High Court against the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) by the coming week for charging extra for diesel’s bulk purchase. The PRTC management had asked Indian Oil Corporation to provide diesel at market rate however the Indian Oil Corporation did not think about their request.
So, the government has now decided to go to court against the company.

PRTC took this decision accompanying the Madras High Court’s provisional order in which it had asked Indian Oil Corporation not to charge extra from the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation for diesel’s bulk purchase.
