A Row Sparked At The Govt Rajindra Hospital After Patient’s Death
Once again due to lack of facilities the Govt Rajindra Hospital has come to lime light. This time an accident victim lost his life due to non-availability of mobile oxygen cylinder.
After being hit by a speeding car the 50 year old victim Radheshyam died as he was being shifted to the radiology ward for CT scan without mobile oxygen cylinder.
His brother alleged the Hospital stating Radheshyam was stable in the operating ward as he was on oxygen but a CT scan was required as he had sustained a head injury he had to be shifted.
On way for CT scan he started breathing heavily and due to lack of mobile oxygen cylinder he died. The Doctor had said the patient required regular supply of oxygen but the CT scan was important and due to lack of mobile oxygen cylinder they sent for CT scan.
Though the hospital claims on spending forty lakhs on oxygen every month still there are only 2 cylinders in the new emergency ward.
The hospital Pharmacist also has given a written request to the seniors stating it is hard to maintain the store due to inadequate supplies, mostly for oxygen cylinder. Even after eight months of reconstruction the centralized emergency ward has not yet began.
Even an alternative ward has not been made for emergency cases. The lack of attendants is also a problem at the hospital when the patients are required to be taken for MRI, X-Ray and ultrasound as these facilities are not in one place.
The senior doctors on condition of anonymity picked their hands, that this is not the first case. During the past 8 months lots of patients have lost their lives during shifting.
Though the medical superintendent Dr VK Sharda denied the allegations saying Radheshyam died due to his head injury and quoted the cost spent on the oxygen each month but admitted Radhe Shyam was not provided mobile oxygen cylinder as he was shifted.
Dr VK Sharda stated, “Radheshyam lost his life because of his head damage. We spend Rs 40 lakh on oxygen on a monthly basis and make sure that all sufferers needing oxygen obtain the supply”.
Official lack of concern
Accident victim Radheshyam lost his life when he was being transferred from the surgical procedure ward to the radiology section for a CT examination without a portable oxygen cylinder
Though Govt Rajindra Hospital heads claim they spend around Rs 40 lakh on oxygen on a monthly basis, there are just 2 oxygen cylinders in the key emergency section
Senior physicians claim a lot of people have died while being transferred from one section to the other during the last eight month period.
Medical Superintendent VK Sharda claims the patient died owing to his head wound, however admits he was not given a portable oxygen cylinder
