Amarinder, Raninder Not Attended Cong Chief’s First Patiala Meeting
The nonattendance of ex Punjab Congress chief Capt Amarinder Singh and his son Raninder Singh from party’s initial gathering in Patiala was noticeable enough to exhibit the gap within the party, as senior heads of the party interrogated his nonappearance.
The meeting was called up in order to greet new Punjab Congress chief Partap Singh Bajwa in the city.
Senior Congress head Laal Singh queried the nonattendance of Amarinder and his son.
While talking at the occasion, Laal Singh, once a close confidante of Amarinder, stated, “It is our responsibility to keep party combined, however the conference has been planned at Patiala and the Assembly section constituted by Amarinder is not there”.
“It was his (Amarinder’s) responsibility to be here together with Raninder Singh, who had fruitlessly contended the adjoining electorate of Samana,” he said.
But, Singh added that when he called Amarinder Singh, as he was away to national capital, the ex- party chief told him that “he was not called for today’s gathering”.
In the meantime, directing finger towards Preneet Kaur, local MP and wife of Amarinder, who was there at the stage together with PPCC chief , Singh querined, “Maharani Sahiba you are in-charge of this workers meet and it was your duty to inform and invite Amarinder about it”.
Singh added that Congress workers would get an “erroneous sign from it that the party was divided up”.
