Amarinder’s Aunt All Set To Take On Preneet In LS Polls
The battle for the Patiala Lok Sabha chair may become a political family tale, with the aunt of ex Punjab CM Amarinder Singh and senior SAD head Biba Amarjeet Kaur all set to challenge her nephew’s wife and 3-time MP Preneet Kaur.
Biba Amarjeet thinks that Preneet stands little chance against her were the party to settle on to throw its power behind her.
During an interface with journalists at her house at Moti Bagh Annexe, an address she incidentally shares with Amarinder Singh, Amarjeet Kaur stated, “Yes, I am prepared to be the applicant bagging the SAD party label (for the Patiala LS seat).”
When asked that many more Akali heads were contending for the party ticket from the city, she stated that it was totally the privilege of SAD supporter Parkash Singh Badal and president Sukhbir Singh Badal to opt the applicant.
“As far as I am concerned I will definitely stake my claim with the party high command; I consider myself the firmest applicant (for the Patiala seat),” she added.
An ex-Congress associate, Amarjeet Kaur has been a Rajya Sabha MP for two successive periods from 1976 to 1988 and was selected as a Lok Sabha applicant by her ex party in the year 1985 in a fight she lost by a small margin to SAD’s Charanjeet Singh Walia.
She is the daughter of ex CM of Patiala and East Punjab States Union, Late Col Ragbhir Singh, and was hooked up with to Kanwar Devinder Singh (son of the Maharaja of the erstwhile Patiala state, late Bhupinder Singh).
She become member of SAD in the year 2009 after her relations with Amarinder got stressed.
