Asthma Can Be Controlled, Not Cured, Says Dr. Kansal
On the eve of World Asthma Day on May 07, well known doctor S P Kansal, HoD of TB and chest department at TB Hospital, Patiala, said that there are around 30 million asthma sufferers in the country and the majority of them are ignorant of it. If the early indications of the disease get ignored, the harshness of the trouble can augment.
Dr. Kansal also said that Asthama can be controlled not cured. He added that TB can be cured forever but to end asthama is impossible.
He said if any person gets asthama, he or she must consult specialists to get best treatment.
On Tuesday, Dr. Kansal was addressing people at the program ‘Hello Jagran’ arranged by Dainik Jagran’s office situated at Sheran Wala Gate.
He said that asthma is a respiratory problem of lungs. The airway, which carries air to and fro to lungs become swollen. Due to this, lungs become vulnerable to attacks of allergic substances. This leads to constraining of muscles in lungs, further confining air passage leading to shortness of breath which could even be deadly.

Worldwide, kids are most inclined to asthma. In many a cases, the disease is genetic.
