Earthquake Jolts Punjab Cities, Jammu and Kashmir
A moderate intensity earthquake jolted Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir and Chandigarh on May 1, but there were no reports of any fatal accidents up till now.
As per repotrts, the tremors got felt in regions of North India comprising the state of Punjab (Patiala, Ludhiana), Union Territory Chandigarh, Himachal, national capital near 12.30 pm.
Mr. R.S.Dattatreya, director, Department of Seismology, IMD stated, “The quake took place at 12.27 p.m. and assessed 5.7 on the Richter scale. The epicenter was somewhere near J&K and HP boundary.”
Yesterday, an tremor measuring 4.3 on the Richter degree had been experienced in Bhaderwah and neighboring districts of Doda region.
