In a declaration forwarded today, the ex Punjab Chief Minister stated, just because Sarabjit is on death row and his clemency appeals have been discarded does not provide anyone the license to make such cruel attempt on his life.

“This betrays a brutal and barbarian mindset of the people who have assaulted him”, he observed, while hoping Sarabjit recovers from coma at the earliest.

Capt Amarinder wished that the administration of the country lodge a strong disapproval with the Pakistan administration over this event, besides making appropriate arrangements for the family associates to visit him there and be his side during the time of his treatment.

He trusted that the administration of Pakistan and the federal administration of Punjab there takes severe note of the subject and makes sure the safety of other Indian inmates lodged there. He commented that such events only hurt the sensitivities of the people and result in tensions when everyone on the both sides wishes peace and agreement to prevail.
