INSPIRE – 5 Day Science Festival Ends At Thapar University

INSPIRE (Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research), a 5-day internship programme arranged by the Thapar University in association with the division of science and technology of the administration of India to magnetize brilliant youths towards science finished on April 02.

The workshop was intended to encourage gifted youths to engage in research projects and motivate them via interactions with international icons from the arenas relating to science.

More than 200 pupils, either presently in Class 12 or have cleared Class 11 from almost 20 schools crosswise Patiala and adjoining towns attended the camp.

Dr. JV Yakhmi, member of National Academy of Science and chairman of Atomic Energy Education Society guided the pupils on ‘Why prefer science as a profession.

University director Prof KK Raina stated that Thapar University wished that young persons to adopt science as the favored career option.

“This camp is a step towards that. We will continue to organise such events in the future too,” added Raina.

Well-known speakers addressed on such themes as profession in science, job choices for mathematics pupils, growth of geometry, newest discoveries, creations and improvements, invention of electron and its impact on science and technology, 100 years of Rutherford trial in nuclear physics and Indian inputs to the growth of mathematics.
