Patiala Resident Gets 3-Year Rigorous Imprisonment In NDPS Case
Following a 5 year old narcotics drug and psychotropic substances (NDPS) case, a local court on May 03 gave 3-year rigorous detention to a Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (CTU) bus driver.
Naib Singh, a Patiala resident, got detained on October 7, 2008. But afterward, Naib was out on bail. At the time of detention, Singh was on government job and the officials of the police found a bag carrying 12 kilogram poppy husk from his possession.
In addition to prison term, the court has also asked him to pay a fine of Rs 30,000.
“Ticket-checking examiner Baldev Kumar Saini had got on the bus that was heading for Patiala from Sector 17. He witnessed a bag lying abandoned near the driver seat,” said a cop.
“During inquiry, Naib said that the bad belonged to him and that he had to hand it over to a drug smuggler in a Punjab town,” he added.
