Patiala Theatre Owners Refused To Screen ‘Sadda Haq’

The gloominess of the makers of contentious Punjabi movie ‘Sadda Haq’ seems to be unending. After fighting a long lawful clash for its release in the state of Punjab, the film again confronts doubt as several single-screen as well as private theatre possessors in the majority of regions have allegedly denied screening it.

The move, the makers alleged, had come under duress from the local government and the Police section.

In a fix over the newest trouble, the movie’s makers, Kuljinder Singh Sidhu and Dinesh Sood, have damned the local governments of some cities for supposedly threatening theatre possessors against screening the film.

The makers of the film stated though multiplexes had joined hands with them for the film’s release, theatre proprietors in Patiala, Ropar, Ludhiana and Nawanshahr were showing lack of enthusiasm.

“They do not wish to muddle up with the powers that be owing to one film. As a result, they have graciously conveyed it to us that they are powerless they said.

Sidhu, who dons the main role in the film stated, “I am dissatisfied at the turn of events. Bollywood has also made several films on similar lines formerly. Why is so much commotion only about Sadda Haq?” he asked.

Patiala management and theatre owners in the city, however, have disproved the allegations.

Patiala Deputy Commissioner GK Singh stated that no one from the region administration had spoken to the film’s group or theatre possessors.

“The allegations are baseless and if at all someone has tried to threaten them, they should come out with the details and we will take action against the guilty,” he added.

A theatre possessor, Harjinder Singh, stated that they were not running the film only because they had already joined hands with distributors of other movies.
