Protest Rally By Shopkeepers Against Property Tax

Hoards of shopkeepers under the banner of Patiala Vyopar Bachao Sangarsh board staged a protest against the administration verdict to bring in property tax.

Calling it a ‘black act’ for the dealers, the demonstrators showed off black flags and took out a scooter rally crosswise the key avenues of the city.

While talking to the gathering, Rakesh Gupta stated that they would not permit the state administration to execute the projected tax come what may, as it would destroy them.

“Small shopkeepers will go through the pain and will be left with no option but to close up their biz groups,” Gupta added.

The group asked that the administration should either take out the verdict to execute the tax or rework on tax slabs.

“Expressing cruel approach, administration is totally disregarding our demands,” he said. The group threatened to provide ‘Patiala bandh’ call if administration failed to take serious note of their demands.

Shopkeepers will submit their doubts to the municipal corporation authorities by Wednesday.
