Punjabi Univ Vice Chancellor: Mamata Keen To Build Punjab Bhawan In Kolkata

Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of the state of West Bengal has shown her wish for a Punjabi language centre to be established in the city of Kolkata, Punjabi University vice-chancellor Jaspal Singh stated.

While talking at the valedictory occasion of the sixth All-India Punjabi meeting, Dr. Jaspal stated that the CM of West Bengal had asked him that she needed assistance from the Punjab administration or the Punjabi University in order to establish the centre in the city of Kolkata, which could be named after the first Guru of Sikhs, Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

Punjabi University has promised her each and every type of assistance in academic affairs, comprising arrangement of seminars and provision of books for the projected bhawan,. Singh added up.

” Banerjee has given Punjabi (Gurmukhi) the standing of a second language in the state educational institutions after coming to power,” Singh added
