Punjabi University To Provide Help To Ace Star Satish Kaul

Moved by the heartbreaking tale of renowned lead actor Satish Kaul, Punjabi University has come to the fore to give it a joyful ending. Satish, who ruled Punjabi films for over 30 years, currently lives in scarcity and isolation in the city of Patiala.

After seeing his story in a newspaper on May 08, Punjabi University’s vice-chancellor Dr. Jaspal Singh called up the newsperson during the morning to be acquainted with the situation of the forgotten superstar.

During the noon time, Dr. Jaspal met Satish and given him exceptional fellowship in respect of his huge body of work in over 250 Punjabi and Hindi flicks.

The companionship will pay Kaul Rs. 12,000 on a monthly basis for a period of 3 years. It will assist him start his treatment and accomplish his dream of portioning out his knowledge with the pupils of theater and acting in Punjab.

“It’s painful that an actor of his stature has not been asked for by anyone,” said the V-C. “So what if destiny has cheated him; the university will help him,” he added.

The media report had highlighted how Satish fought for two square meals in actual life and worked in a small private acting institution for earnings to stay alive.

Having sold his only house in the city of Mumbai for the fervor to run an acting institution in the city of Ludhiana, which failed 2 years back, Kaul would be on the streets but for the hostel housing arranged by his boss.

One of his popular co-actors, Priti Sapru, who is settled in Mumbai, also called up Kaul and the paper on May 08, and given him main chahracter in a Punjabi movie, which will go into production by June.

“It will be my privilege to work again with Satish Kaul, with whom I grew up in the profession,” she stated, appealing the rest of the Punjabi film producers to assist the man who assisted Punjabi pictures live on the harsh phase when actors were not paid well.

Feeling the start of a novel life after assistance from Punjabi University and ex co-star, Kaul desired for a comeback to the big screen. Kaul’s wife divorced him 7 years back, and he has no kids.

Comedian and superb acor Binu Dhillon also feels regretful for Kaul.

“New actors should show respect for Kaul and come forward to help him,” he said. “The irony is that everybody talks about it but nobody takes the step. I tried (to get everyone together for the cause) a few months ago but nothing came of the effort.”

Satirist Bhagwant Mann, who is also a head of PPP, stated that it was unlucky that the most flourishing hero ever of Punjabi movies was condemned to a life of scarcity.

“Once I complete the shooting of my latest film, I will make efforts to bring all present-day Punjabi film stars together to help senior artistes,” he said.
