Rakhra In Goa, Brother Distributed The Section’s Grants Without Permission
With cabinet minister for rustic growth Surjit Singh Rakhra at chintan shivir in the state of Goa, his elder brother, Charanjit Singh Rakhra, as de facto minister, distributed the section’s grants.
The administration rules prohibit the assigning of official cheques to private individuals for distribution. The rules were forwarded after the reports had disclosed the misappropriations of grants forwarded by cabinet minister Gulzar Singh Ranike.
It is not for the first time that Charanjit Rakhra, who doesn’t even have any authorized or political label, has twisted his powers in the rustic growth ministry.
During the last week, in the nonattendance of Rakhra, he kicked off an authorized function to teach panches and sarpanches. About a fortnight back, he kicked off development works in aid of Surjit Singh Rakhra.
Currently, Charanjit Rakhra hands out the grant cheques at Rakhra Technologies, a private firm of the Rakhra pals. He even forwarded a statement with his image from the gathering.
Brahm Mohindra, a Congress legislator stated, “It’s not only illegal but also something that lifts a query mark on the functioning of the rustic development section, which I see has become a slave to the family of (Surjit Singh) Rakhra,”.
“The deputy commissioner should explain how the cheques reached a private person,” he added.
Ex deputy speaker of Vidhan Sahba Bir Devinder Singh demanded the lodging of a FIR against the functionaries who had delivered the cheques to Charanjit Rakhra.
