Sadda Haq Tale Counterfeit, Try To Glorify Hawara: Rajoana

Death-row prisoner and ex Chief Minister Beant Singh killer Balwant Singh Rajoana locked in Central Patiala prison has stated that ‘Sadda Haq’ film’s tale is false and an effort to glorify Jagtar Singh Hawara, his co-charged.

Hawara currently in Delhi’s Tihar jail came back into limelight, in 2004, when he escaped from maximum security jail at Burail, along with 2 other Sikh prisoners by digging a 90 feet tunnel.

The film has been hitting headlines ever since it was made. Produced by Kuljinder Sidhu and Dinesh Sood, the movie was not being cleared by the Censor Board and lastly when it was approved, the film got banned a day before its release on April 4 by Punjab administration for terrors of threats to spiritual accord in Punjab as the film deals with the Khalistan movement and supposedly had the prospective to awaken the feelings of the communities against one another.

Haryana, UT Chandigarh and National Capital Territory New Delhi accompanied the suit as well.

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee that earlier donned a positive job in promoting the film and even asked the Censor Board for sanction, later backed down stating that it was unwise for the group to get support for a film.

The makers afterward approached Supreme Court that lifted the ban and the film hit theaters in Punjab on May 10.

Sadda Haq is a Punjabi movie based on the chaotic times during the days of violence in the state and depicts a story of Khalistan movement rise in the late 80s and early 90s.
