State Govt To Announce New Patiala Mayor On April 2
Lastly, the state administration has declared April 2 as the date to select new mayor of Patiala. The said post had been vacant after removal of Jaspal Pardhan, whose name got involved in the so-called murder of his ‘daughter-in-law’, Parampreet Kaur. Previously, it was being conjectured that the administration might wait for the interrogation report of Punjab Police’s special investigation team (SIT), made up to find out the role of mayor in the ‘slaughter’ case.
With the verdict to carry out the mayoral poll on April 2, the contenders have again turned active and are leaving no stone unturned to obtain the most sought after post.
According to a note received from the office of the divisional commissioner, the poll would be carried out at 11 am on April 2.
Commissioner of the civic body, Mr. Gurlavleen Singh Sidhu stated, “We have forwarded letters to all the council members to be a part of the meeting in which the mayor will be selected.â€
But, the poll will be a simple procedure as the name finalized by the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) high command would fill the position.
The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) high command will forward its choice of prospect in a sealed envelope via party head for Patiala and education minister, Sikander Singh Maluka, who will deliver the packet to one of the top councillors to declare the name in the gathering.
The newly announced mayor will become acquainted with the high command’s choice a few hours before the name get actually made public.
