Sukhbir Badal Sets Up Committee To Choose Patiala City Mayor
For picking out the Mayor for Patiala Municipal Corporation, the Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal has formed a 3-member group.
As per reports, the said committee will be directed by Shiromani Akali Dal general secretary and MP Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa.
According to a declaration, SAD secretary and spokesman Daljit Singh Cheema stated that in addition to Mr. Dhindsa, the other affiliates of the group comprise party general secretary and MP Balwinder Singh Bhunder and Education Minister Sikander Singh Malooka.
The initial conference of this group will take place on Thursday (March 28) in Patiala circuit house, he stated adding that the group will meet all municipal councilors and other Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) heads and forward the concluding statement to party president at the earliest.
The state administration has set April 2 for choosing the new Mayor for the royal city.
Divisional commissioner Gurlavleen Singh Sidhu said, “We have dispatched letters to all councilors to be present at the assembly in which the Mayor will be chosen.”
Sources added that the Shiromani Akali Dal High Command is influenced that Pardhan has no role in Parampreet’s slaughter, however the party does not wish to court another debate by re-electing him, as the case is still awaiting in Punjab and Haryana High Court after Parampreet’s father lodged an appeal seeking CBI investigation into the murder.
