Unemployed Line-Men, Families Hold Protest Outside Mini-Secretariat

Asking for the issuance of appointment letters to 4,000 candidates who cleared up the recruitment examination, jobless linemen together with their family members on April 3 held a protest outside the min-secretariat, Patiala.

Under the sign of the Unemployment Lineman Union, the candidates are protesting for the last few days against Punjab administration for “not offering” appointment letters to them in the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL).

These linemen had come for the convention together with their family members from all over Punjab.

“We have cleared the test carried out by PSPCL during January 2011. As many as 5,000 linemen were to be enrolled by the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited. But, the appointment letters were issued to just 1,000,” added Primal Singh, president of the union.

The PRTC contractual staff union also broadened support to the candidates.
