Union Administration Clears 39 Quarries For Public Sale
Accompanying an authorization from the Centre, the state administration has decided to auction 39 quarries by June 2013.
State’sIndustry and Commerce Minister Anil Joshi stated that out of the 39 quarries, 12 are of sand while the rest 27 were of gravel and crusher in the regions of Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Ropar, Mohali and Patiala.
Anil stated that with the public sale of these quarries, individuals would obtain sand and crusher at reasonable rates as sand quarries boasting a region of 518 acres, while crusher quarries have a region of 2,300 acres that would fabricate massive amount of these natural sources mainly utilized for building.
Anil added that the Union Environment and Forest Ministry has suggested giving the authorization to 55 quarries in the state on April 16 at the Expert Appraisal group assembly, out of which 39 quarries have been sanctioned by the Centre for digging.
He also stated that the rest of 16 quarries would be auctioned after the authorization of the Forest section. The head has also ordered section functionaries to auction these quarries at the earliest.
