As per latest reports, a man detained in Patiala Central Jail following blames of betraying managed to defraud none other than a jail custodian of Rs. 11 lakh by selling him dreams of a fancy life overseas.
Mohinder Chopra, who was already confronting charges of migration fraud, afterward bagged bail and remains at large, whereas the warder, Tarlochan Singh, has now lodged a case.
A resident of Bhiwani in Haryana, Mohinder was in jail in the year 2009 when Tarlochan admittedly attached him.
“Chopra told me he had assisted several people settle overseas. As I showed curiosity, he said he could first send my son, Sarabjit Singh, to Europe. As said, Sarabjit delivered Rs. 1 lakh as token money to begin documentation at Chopra’s house in Haryana,” added Tarlochan.
By early 2010, Singh had paid several payments.
Tripuri police station house officer (SHO) Kulwant Singh stated that a case of betraying has been lodged and a probe launched.

Ex Patiala Mayor Jaspal Pardhan, who remained in debate over the so-called slaughter of her “daughter-in-law”, is in problem again.
Jaspal has been booked for allegedly attacking at 2 individuals during a fight at his residence on Sunday. The police officials are likely to record the report of one of the sufferers, Manjit Singh, who has been taken to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital in Ludhiana with a lot of injuries.

After the termination of his police custody, the sparring associate of International boxer Vijender Singh, boxer Ram Singh, was on April 09 taken to court, and sent to judicial custody till April 23.
A close family member met him after he was taken to the court. The district police had detained Ram Singh after claiming to have captured 5-kg methamphetamine drug from the residence of his brother-in-law, Ravicharan “Ravi Deolâ€, in Sangrur in recent times.
Indian boxer Vijender Singh, who bagged the 2008 Olympics bronze in Beijing, China, is pal and colleague boxer of Ram Singh, who was detained formally.
Punjab Police recently had fired Ram as head constable, whilst his family members have claimed that he is blameless and he has nothing to do with drugs.

The State Bank of Patiala has given a donation of Rs. 1.65 lakh to SOS Village, Rajpura.
Mr. Pukhraj Kanther, State Bank of Patiala’s CGM (chief general manager) along with Mr. Deepak Prasad Verma, general manager (human resource) gave the draft to Mr. Rakesh Sinha and Sunita Kaul, directors of SOS Village.
The baking institution will adopt 23 kids each year and bear the expenses on their schooling and care.
The SOS Village, Rajpura was doing yeoman’s service for the support of orphan kids, said Mr. Pukhraj.
Mr. Deepak also praised the working of SOS Village and stated that the kids are living in a beautiful place.

While talking about her character, the actress said, “I am very eager to act in a Punjabi movie. I am donning the character of mother of Madalsa Sharma, who is the main actress in the film.”

As per latest reports, the central bureau of investigation (CBI) has taken the detained Deputy Commissioner IT T. K. Bhattacharya and Ashwini Kumar Gupta (CA) to the CBI court today.
Both Bhattacharya and Gupta have been sent to 14 days remand.
A few days back, the anti-corruption branch of CBI retrieved Rs 67.50 lakh from Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax department, Ludhiana and a Jalandhar-based Chartered Accountant (CA).

With cabinet minister for rustic growth Surjit Singh Rakhra at chintan shivir in the state of Goa, his elder brother, Charanjit Singh Rakhra, as de facto minister, distributed the section’s grants.

As per reports, a female on April 08 charged the personal assistant of Punjab forest minister Surjit Kumar Jyani of having two spouses at the same time.
Sarabjit Kaur, an occupant of Rajpura colony. Patiala, together with her family members, had protested in front of the office of the senior superintendent of police.
The protesters were protesting against police silence in slapping a case under Section 376 (rape) of the IPC against the charged, named as Sawarn Singh.
The police had lodged a case below Section 420 of the IPC against Sawarn and had forwarded him to prison.
Sarabjit claimed that she tied the nuptial knot with Sawarn 3 years back with the joint approval of both the families.
Sarabjit added that a few months back, she had come to know about the earlier wedding of her hubby from which he also had a son, who resides in the city of Chandigarh.
The agitators threatened to strengthen their remonstration if the police failed to lodge a rape case against Singh.

The crime investigating agency (CIA) of Patiala police has arrested 3 so-called inter-state smugglers and retrieved 2.75-kg opium from them.
Mr. Gurpreet Singh Gill, Senior superintendent of police stated that on a detailed information, the officials tracked a Verna car and arrested the three people.
As per reports, two of them, Rajinder Kumar and Baldev Singh are the occupants of Ambala, and the third person, Raghuvir Singh is a resident of Fatehgarh Sahib.
During the hunt of the vehicle, the police officials detected the smuggled goods.
The charged used to bring narcotic from the state of Rajasthan and would sell it in the states of Punjab and Haryana, Mr. Gurpreet added up.
A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act had been lodged against the trio who were already confronting accuses of drug vending.

Around 6 people got grave injuries when a Patiala-based hotelman, Gurdeep Singh Walia, and his relatives collided with ex Patiala mayor Jaspal Singh Pardhan and his family members at the latter’s house on April 07 morning.
On February 26, Jaspal Singh had stepped down as mayor owing to his so-called role in the slaughter of his daughter-in-law Parampreet Kaur, who had died under strange conditions on February 23. But, during probes, the Special Investigation Team had provided him a clean chit.
As per police officials, the episode occurred around 11.30 am, when Gurdeep Singh — proprietor of Hotel Sunrise — followed by his parents, wife, kids and backers reached Jaspal’s house.
Gurdeep Singh, who stated to have paid Jaspal Rs 25 lakh for not bulldozing Sunrise during his term as the mayor, had gone to baghis funds. This, after on orders of Divisional Commissioner G S Sidhu, partial demolition of Hotel Sunrise and a few other neighboring shops had been accomplished. Since Jaspal Singh could not save the bulldozing and the new mayor has now accepted the charge, Gurdeep Singh was asking for a refund.
When Gurdeep and his supporters made entry into Pardhan’s house, the latter’s relatives, comprising his nephew Ekjot Singh, son Preetinder Singh and several supporters, protested. Accompanying this, both groups lashed out at each other with iron rods and swords and, in the course, Pardhan’s house got vandalized. The battle for the Patiala Lok Sabha chair may become a political family tale, with the aunt of ex Punjab CM Amarinder Singh and senior SAD head Biba Amarjeet Kaur all set to challenge her nephew’s wife and 3-time MP Preneet Kaur.
Biba Amarjeet thinks that Preneet stands little chance against her were the party to settle on to throw its power behind her.
During an interface with journalists at her house at Moti Bagh Annexe, an address she incidentally shares with Amarinder Singh, Amarjeet Kaur stated, “Yes, I am prepared to be the applicant bagging the SAD party label (for the Patiala LS seat).”
When asked that many more Akali heads were contending for the party ticket from the city, she stated that it was totally the privilege of SAD supporter Parkash Singh Badal and president Sukhbir Singh Badal to opt the applicant.
“As far as I am concerned I will definitely stake my claim with the party high command; I consider myself the firmest applicant (for the Patiala seat),” she added.
An ex-Congress associate, Amarjeet Kaur has been a Rajya Sabha MP for two successive periods from 1976 to 1988 and was selected as a Lok Sabha applicant by her ex party in the year 1985 in a fight she lost by a small margin to SAD’s Charanjeet Singh Walia.
She is the daughter of ex CM of Patiala and East Punjab States Union, Late Col Ragbhir Singh, and was hooked up with to Kanwar Devinder Singh (son of the Maharaja of the erstwhile Patiala state, late Bhupinder Singh).
She become member of SAD in the year 2009 after her relations with Amarinder got stressed.

Madan Mohan Mittal, Health Minister Punjab stated that the suspected Swine Flu sufferers are being handled in private zones in all the Government Hospitals in the state of Punjab.
In a press report, Madan Mohan Mittal sturdily discarded the Media tales in which it was depicted that Swine Flu sufferers are being handled keeping them in the intensive care unit with other patients at Government Rajindra Hospital, Patiala.
Mittal added that after the publication of Media tales that Rajindra Hospital was breaching safety rules, a statement was required from Medical Superintendent, Rajindra Hospital Patiala.
He also stated that it has been disclosed in the report that a patient named Sangeeta was admitted in the Gynae Department on March 23, 2013, with Dyspnea.
Her condition speedily worsened. Physician directed Ventilator support to her. She was taken to intensive care unit and was placed on Ventilator, afterward Swine Flu was suspected and she was found positive for Swine Flu on March 27.
The patient was then shifted to Swine Flu ward with breathing machine, where she died on March, 30.
“Negligence found on the part of any physician in this regard, he would be taken to task,†Madan Mohan Mittal added.
