PRTC will lodge a writ appeal in the Punjab and Haryana High Court against the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) by the coming week for charging extra for diesel’s bulk purchase. The PRTC management had asked Indian Oil Corporation to provide diesel at market rate however the Indian Oil Corporation did not think about their request.
So, the government has now decided to go to court against the company.
PRTC took this decision accompanying the Madras High Court’s provisional order in which it had asked Indian Oil Corporation not to charge extra from the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation for diesel’s bulk purchase.
Distracted over this, the Punjab administration directed the PRTC to buy diesel from private oil pumps located near to their depots. After that, PRTC had been buying from oil pumps providing the major discount.
This augmentation in cost of diesel obtainable in bulk has added to the PRTC’s sufferings. It has financial obligations of over Rs 50 crore with payments against the GP Fund, Motor Vehicle Tax, revised pay scale, Km-Scheme buses, revised gratuity and revised pension.
The PRTC is yet to obtain Rs 25 crore. The Punjab administration has decided to pay the firm once a year. The payment is destined to assist PRTC pay pensions to its staff.

The Sports Department of Punjabi University, Patiala, is all set to carry out the sports wing/summer coaching camp auditions for the contestants, who are looking for admissions in graduate courses in the new session of 2013-14.
Dr. Raj Kumar Sharma, Director of the sports department, stated that Punjabi University is going to conduct selection trials at the Sports Complex on April 17 in a variety of games that consists of archery, athletics, cycling, baseball, handball, hockey, softball, wrestling in addition to cricket.

Country’s Olympic medalist Vijender Singh has not attended the boxing audition camp in the city of Patiala. Involvement in the boxing camp is needed for the Singh’s selection.
Boxing Federation Vice President Nivaran Mukherjee stated, “Singh hasn’t come for the auditions. If he doesn’t be present at the camp tomorrow he will be unsuccessful to meet the criteria or the next contest.”
On Friday, the Punjab Police stated that Vijender has not been excused in the noteworthy drug scandal.
The police officials added that it will not agree to details of the dope examination on Vijender carried out by the National Anti Doping Agency (NADA) as it has no lawful strength.
After denying providing samples to Punjab Police, the boxer, whose name popped up in the high-status Mohali drug haul, had on Friday made himself available for an out-of-rivalry dope examination by NADA functionaries.
Fatehgarh Sahib SSP HS Mann added that the police cannot agree to the NADA examination report as it has no legal strength.

Prior to the much talked about “Chintan Shivir” in the state of Goa, the Shiromani Akali Dal president, Sukhbir Singh Badal, on April 05 stated that there’s no groupism in the political party and Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal was its only head.
Jathedar Tohra, ex president of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), at a ceremonial occasion to mark his 9th death anniversary (which was on April 1), deputy CM Sukhbir stated that to dig up the Congress from Punjab, the party would have to fortify its stand.
“There is no place of groupism.” he said. “We have only the one leader, Parkash Singh Badal, and he is the tallest.”
He recalled Tohra’s input to the political party.
“Jathedar Tohra was the leading strength of the Shiromani Akali Dal and Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, who worked persistently together with Badal for the wellbeing of Punjab and Sikh Panth. An authentic mark of respect to him would be to encourage his philosophy to reinforce the SAD,” said Sukhbir.
Sukhbir’s comment hinted that Shiromani Akali Dal would challenge the Lok Sabha polls under the guidance of Parkash Singh Badal. He has tried to settle the hearsays that he might capture the position of the CM after the Goa meeting.
In his words, the CM also commemorated Jathedar Tohra as “the lighthouse for political leaders”, cued the Akali workers that the party was “best”. “The party gave podium to Jathedar Tohra to turn into Panth Rattan,” he said. “Everybody must reinforce the party, as he did.”

As per, Dr. Varinder Singh Mohi, civil surgeon Patiala, declared that the kids, up to five years of age, will be given vaccine under the pulse polio drive commencing from April 7 to April 9.
Dr. Varinder stated that the health department teams will visit the streets that will give polio vaccine to around 24,281 kids (0-5 age group).
These teams will cover up migratory population, poor people, laborers, grain markets as well as newly built streets.
Beside these regions, people came from other zones will also be covered under this drive.
Dr. Mohi said that around 159 teams have been formed for this campaign in addition to 14 mobile teams.
Mobile health groups have been advised to cover maximum houses on a daily basis to cover up the left children.
Aside from the educational institutions in areas, polio booths will also be established at gurudwaras, bus stands, railway stations, and other public places.
According to the health section the polio vaccine should be given to all kids comprising those who have been already given the first dose.

According to singer-actor Amarinder gill, the film is full of comedy that makes audiences laugh.
Daddy Cool Munde Fool is a Punjabi movie that features Jaswinder Bhalla, Rana Ranbir, Amrinder Gill, Harish Verma, Yuvika Chaudhary, Amar Noorie as well as Binnu Dhillon.

Rajindra Hospital physicians have removed the four-foot iron rod from the person’s throat and saved his life.
The doctors conducted a two and a half hour long surgery and successfully removed the angle.
The physicians said that the victim is out of danger now.
This operation is the first of its kind in the hospital.
Rajindra Hospital, Department of Surgery, Dr. SK Bhatia stated that the patient was admitted around 6 o’clock on Tuesday night.
He had a four feet tall angle, which got struck into his throat.
The victim was followed by his two friends. The doctors operated him without any delay.
According to Dr. Bhatia, half of the patient’s larynx got amputated.
Other well known doctors carried out the life saving surgery were Dr. Sudesh, Dr. Love, Dr. Lokesh, Dr. Lvkesh, Dr. Navjot, Dr. Anand, Dr. parity, Dr. Neeraj, Dr. Golden Lamp.

Asking for the issuance of appointment letters to 4,000 candidates who cleared up the recruitment examination, jobless linemen together with their family members on April 3 held a protest outside the min-secretariat, Patiala.
Under the sign of the Unemployment Lineman Union, the candidates are protesting for the last few days against Punjab administration for “not offering” appointment letters to them in the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL).
These linemen had come for the convention together with their family members from all over Punjab.
“We have cleared the test carried out by PSPCL during January 2011. As many as 5,000 linemen were to be enrolled by the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited. But, the appointment letters were issued to just 1,000,†added Primal Singh, president of the union.
The PRTC contractual staff union also broadened support to the candidates.

The office and residence of prominent charted accountant and former State Bank of Patiala director Dr Ashwin Gupta has been raided by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). They took a laptop, files and bundles of paper work in possession.
According to the sources, the CBI followed the trail dumped by Income Tax department’s DC PK Bhattacharya, whom CBI nailed down on Tuesday and on Wednesday at five in the morning at around 5 am, they raided the residence of Gupta at Green Park.
Mr. Bhattacharya was posted at Ludhiana but was living in Jalandhar.
Sources revealed that Bhattacharya came to Gupta on the night of Tuesday and delivered cash telling that he would take it away afterward. But, the IT officer was arrested by CBI and in the morning, the team reached Gupta’s residence.

Preneet on March 31 met Brahm Mohindra, who had recommended Amarinder’s exclusion after the latter forwarded a notification to him for not attending the Moga election movement.
Preneet and Amarinder, in the last year assembly ticket allocation, had defended the ticket to Brahm from Patiala rural with the intention to obtain it for their son Raninder Singh.
With Amarinder currently out of the PPCC, his wife wasted no time calling Mohindra’s house for a ceasefire.
Mohindra previously symbolized the Patiala urban seat, when in the year 2002, Amarinder as the PPCC president transferred him to Samana, from where he was shot down.
As the Lok Sabha polls drawing near and heads like Deepinder Singh Dhillon have linked up with the Akali Dal, Preneet has commenced the damage control exercise.
A Congressman said, “The royal family didn’t bother even for ministers and MLAs till they were in control of the PPCC. Now, things have changed and Preneet is out pleasing others.”

The group of the much awaited Punjabi flick ‘Sadda Haq’, on April 02 reached the royal city, Patiala, with the aim to promote the movie.
The film will hit screens on April 5.
‘Sadda Haq’ is based on authentic episodes in the state of Punjab from eighties to mid-nineties and had been primarily banished by the censor board. The movie was cleared with universal certification at a meeting of a high-level committee of the censor board.
Film makers, Kuljinder Sidhu and Dinesh Sood; directors Mandeep Benipal and Gaurav Kakkar; and the key cast stated that fallacies were produced regarding the movie by a segment of the society, however they were all unjustified.
This would be the first Punjabi movie based on genuine occasions.
One of the film makers stated, “Sadda Haq has been made with a good objective and on a unique storyline. The turbulence and travails between 1980’s and mid-1990’s pushed the youth rtowards inhumanity. Many lives were lost. This film is a dramatised adaptation of facts and events as they had happened in the past.”

INSPIRE (Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research), a 5-day internship programme arranged by the Thapar University in association with the division of science and technology of the administration of India to magnetize brilliant youths towards science finished on April 02.
The workshop was intended to encourage gifted youths to engage in research projects and motivate them via interactions with international icons from the arenas relating to science.
More than 200 pupils, either presently in Class 12 or have cleared Class 11 from almost 20 schools crosswise Patiala and adjoining towns attended the camp.

A day after Sports ministry ordered National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) to conduct examination on boxer Vijender Singh for so-called use of heroin, Haryana boxer is expected to be labeled as missing from countrywide boxing camp, presently happening in NIS Patiala as his leave time concluded on last Thursday whilst he is yet to join camp.
According to sources, the boxer has been on leave since the beginning of the last month and has not gone to the site for a day. He has lengthened his leave three times from NIS functionaries, but now functionaries have denied entertaining his most recent request for leave, arrived in NIS Patiala on Friday.
The boxer had asked for a leave of 2 more weeks from NIS functionaries; however they have denied to take any verdict at their own and sent the request to Sports Authority of India (SAI) Delhi.
Though application passed on Sports Authority of India on Friday, but functionaries have neither accepted nor discarded the request and informed regarding their verdict to NIS Patiala authorities thus far.
NIS national camp incharge Manmeet Singh stated, “It’s 4th time the boxer has asked for leave. He has stayed on leave all March month. We have sent his application to SAI for more leave to two weeks and waiting for decision of SAI authorities.”
The problem of Vijender, who won middleweight bronze at the 2008 Beijing Olympics , commenced during the last month after Fatehgarh sahib uncovered a drug haul and took his sparring associate Ram Singh, fired head cop, in detention.

As per reports, the controversial queen Veena Malik took some time off from shooting her ongoing project “Eh Dil The Mamla†to pay homage to the Gurudwara of ninth Sikh Guru Shri Teg Bahadur in the city of Patiala.
The actress was in a yellow and white shalwar kameez and had dupatta on her head.
The reports said that Veena offered prayers at Gurudwara Dukhniwaran Sahib to get blessings for her forthcoming projects.
Previously, Malik visited Ajmer Sharif Dargah and recited Bhargavad Geeta as the actress feels that she is a very spiritual human being and trusts in respecting every religion.
At present, Veena Malik is busy shooting her other film’s â€The City That Never Sleepsâ€, directed by Rashid Haroon.
